BNZ MarketView says "stunted" spending for last week is still an improvement...
Although spending reached a low last week, the latest BNZ MarketView spending stats for the week ending 19 June show a slightly more positive picture.
Last week spending on BNZ credit and debit cards still took a slight dip (negative 0.05%), although there was some activity in the market with transactions +0.53% on the same week last year.
Best news though was that Hardware & Homeware spending was up again (+7.4%), behind Department Stores (+9.3%) but ahead of Bars, Cafes & Restaurants (+6.6%).
