Clothing and Food have been key contributors to higher spending over the past 12 months and were responsible for approximately 60% of the increase in online spending at local merchants since April last year.
The BNZ and Marketview in their monthly update, say that, once again, spending growth at local merchants (+14%) was less than at overseas websites (+19%).
Part of this growth reflects higher offshore prices in NZ dollar terms, they say. And, once again, overseas Computer & Entertainment Media stores featured strongly in this growth.
Spending at Furniture, Housewares and Hardware retailers made up just 6% of total online spending in the 12 months to end April.
