Blackwoods Protector, NZ Safety, Packaging House to be integrated into a new business.

In a communication to customers this morning, Blackwoods Protector's National Manager for New Zealand, Glenn Rogers, confirmed the merging of Blackwoods Protector, NZ Safety and Packaging House into a single business.

The new umbrella brand will be NZ Safety Blackwoods.

The new operation will offer a wider range of products and services, technical expertise across a range of specialist areas (safety, packaging, apparel and engineering) and a unified one order-one invoice regime for customers.

Rogers says: "Our commitment is to continue to deliver on your industrial and safety requirements whilst leveraging the scale and capability of our expanded operations to enhance the value we can offer..."

The news comes as no surprise to those who have been following Wesfarmers' corporate announcements over the last few months.

In November, announcing the restructuring, Wesfarmers Industrials Managing Director Rob Scott said: "Our specialist operations can now benefit from being part of a larger and stronger national platform which will enable us to invest more in innovative customer solutions.

“We are confident that these changes will deliver significant synergies across merchandising, sourcing, supply chain, property and support services that ultimately will deliver more value to our customers.

“This transformation will see greater focus and investment in new products, digital solutions and service delivery models to meet the changing demands of our customers.”

The Industrial & Safety division is due for change, having reported a 28% fall in its EBIT in Wesfarmers' half year result in February, due to "volume & margin pressure from further reductions in mining investment & business activity, stronger focus on cost reduction by customers & a lower Australian dollar".

More news on the local restructuring soon.
