Mitre 10 NZ receives marketing award for its successful Airpoints Redemption programme.

A market-first initiative to enable Kiwis to spend their Air New Zealand Airpoints Dollars at Mitre 10 New Zealand has taken out the Retail category in the 2019 TVNZ Marketing Awards.

In October 2018, Mitre 10 became the first retail partner to offer Airpoints Dollar redemption across all products in-store and online, enabling customers to not only earn but also spend Airpoints Dollars.

A measure of the success of this strategy has been that 22,000+ customers spent Airpoints Dollars with Mitre 10 during the first six months of the programme with 95%+ customer satisfaction.

This initial enthusiasm seems to be continuing, according to Mitre 10 New Zealand General Manager Marketing, Jules Lloyd-Jones: "We are seeing customers choosing to use this payment method regularly, and new customers coming to shop with us as a result," she says.

The Airpoints Redemption programme allows shoppers to pay in full, or for part of their purchases with their Airpoints Dollars, by swiping their Airpoints membership card at checkout when making purchases of $75 or more.
