NIWA isn't predicting a bumper winter for the heating category, but dehumidifiers might do well...
NIWA says that temperatures for June-August 2016 are "very likely" to be above average in all regions of the country.
Nevertheless, frosts and cold snaps will occur from time to time in cooler locations.
Rainfall for the same period is likely to be above normal in the north and west of the North Island and the west of the South Island.
Seasonal rainfall totals are equally likely to be near normal or above normal in the east of the North Island and the north and east of the South Island.
