Builders’ feedback on solvents…

By NZHJ October 12, 2015 Glues, Sealants & Fillers

Sika has been out and about surveying builders at recent Future Proof Trade Shows to get their thoughts on the use of solvents in construction adhesives and has been kind enough to share some of these results. The survey revealed that:

  • 12% of builders have experienced ill effects like headaches or dizzy spells when using solvent-based adhesives.
  • 33% have often noticed strong solvent fumes when solvent-based adhesives are being used on site.
  • But just 36% wear protective gear when using solvent-based adhesives.
  • And 81% would buy solvent-free adhesives if they knew it would do the same job.

You’d think this was enough in itself to some of the inertia around solvent-free products wouldn’t you?
